So, I've been gone for a couple weeks... Remember that lovely shot of Mt Hood that I posted two weeks ago. Well, the mountain got the best of me! Friday night it was icy at Mt. Hood Meadows. I fell, for the first time that day, I twisted my knee and tore my ACL. Surgery is scheduled for next month. More time to stamp, right??
In the meantime, I will share that we have been foster parents for just over a year now. I won't talk about it very often and most of the time, foster parenting is an amazing, wonderful experience. Yesterday, I was struggling with frustration and put my thoughts on paper. I shared this with my co-foster parent, Amanda, who has the two younger siblings of my foster children.
I completely concur with these words from her post "These foster parenting posts aren’t about me and my book, or my emotional outlet (though I do get that); they’re about anyone else out there fostering, feeling alone, frustrated, and angry. Because in the end, rage inducing as foster parenting is, it’s about the kids. I may not renew my licence in 3 years like Jodeen talks about, but if I do, it’ll be for the tots like my FiestyPants and BoyBlue and the wonder of seeing their family heal. It certainly won’t be to help the state better their numbers."
More foster parents are needed. Its frustrating, but a pretty great gig.
Mountain... I'll be back for another shot at you next year!
